WEAKNESSES:

I don’t have a lot of experience in the advertising industry outside of assignments
I don’t have a clear direction of which role I absolutely want to do
I need to improve my copy writing skills
Research can be a time-consuming process for me because I am thorough
I have not had experience in an agency style of work place
I have not actually implemented a marketing/advertising strategy and seen it through, I have only written the strategies up
My skills in building websites are limited to sites like wix & similar website creation sites.

OPPORTUNITIES:

I can do internships within an advertising agency to gain more hands-on experience and also do the work-integrated learning subject that is offered to students
I can submit ideas to my current work place and if implemented, track its success
There are opportunities for me to do some self-training/learning in making websites
I can keep practicing making designs for all different materials for friends and family or just follow design briefs found online to improve my skills in implementation of designs
I can keep up to date with current advertising and marketing trends by following blogs, advertising companies and campaigns
I can attend networking events in the advertising industry and reach out to tutors, lecturers and guest speakers at QUT
"The secret of all effective advertising is not the creation of new and tricky words and pictures, but one of putting familiar words and pictures into new relationships." - Leo Burnett
THREATS:

I’m 27 and will be 29 by the time I finish my current degree which may hinder my suitability for roles as the advertising industry is typically filled with “young” workers
Brisbane does not have a strong advertising industry so jobs in the area might be limited and therefore I may be required to move elsewhere for my career
The advertising industry is very competitive – Lots of graduates and minimal roles available
The industry is always changing, the knowledge I have learned from university might be obsolete by the time I finish if I don’t actively keep on top of what is happening in the industry
Companies are starting to do a lot of their advertising work in house
