Hi. Welcome to my page!
I’m Tayen. I’m 27 and a creative with an analytical mindset. I’m curious and always question the why, because I’m fascinated with the answer. I’m experienced in diving deeper to find that golden nugget of information, to pick and pull a part consumer behaviour to find that consumer insight or big idea. I’m not afraid of research or data, however overwhelming it may be, because I understand it is crucial to the success of the creative. As Jef I. Richards once said “Creative without strategy is just 'art'. Creative with strategy is called advertising."
I understand the persistence and dedication it takes to succeed in the advertising industry and it is the industry I want to be in. I thrive under pressure, believe in continuous improvement and have experience in creating strategies, both in an advertising and marketing context, from my studies at university. Years of hospitality and retail have also given me valuable skills in being able to think on my feet and work to deadlines.
I have a background in design and fashion and I’m a super ambitious person, which is why I returned to university for my second degree, to pursue my interests in advertising. I enjoy learning and love engaging with new environments and projects. I have been lucky enough to gain global experience by living in Denmark and immersing myself in Danish culture for 6 months as part of a study abroad experience, which has made me more resilient and understanding.
My proudest achievement in this degree, was winning the internship with the marketing team at Uber’s Brisbane head office during my first Semester. This was a great opportunity and it gave me experience in creating a marketing strategy, managing the event calendar and creating partnerships with local businesses. Since I’m not due to finish my degree until the end of 2019, I hope that this achievement is just the start of many more to come.
