The tone of my blog will be fun, creative, bold and a little edgy. The theme I have chosen for my blog will include dark backgrounds contrasted with bright pinks & purples to achieve this feeling. I have taken inspiration from the city I live in (Brisbane) to come up with my own palette which expresses my personality and personal brand aesthetic.
I have chosen the singular centre column layout, as it is easy to navigate and helps tell the story of who I am. It starts with a bright, dynamic and eye-catching header, followed with a grayscale picture of me and then goes into my blog posts and pictures. It then finishes with some examples of my best work so far, which are displayed in a horizontal row of bright coloured boxes. This helps the reader know that they have moved from blog posts to portfolio examples instead and breaks up the page to create a point of interest.
The blog will feature sans-serif fonts to create that dynamic and bold feel but will be paired with saturated colour pictures to create that edgy, creative and fun feel.
HEADER:
The banner was chosen because the triangular shapes within it create that bold, dynamic feel and also create a sense of movement. Since advertising is a constant process of uncovering information and then building ideas, the cube-like effect that the triangles create reminded me of that process and I thought they were a perfect representation of that constant construction of ideas which build upon another. It is fun and youthful, but it is also dynamic, stable and creative, which is what the advertising industry is all about.
